Ink Tank - Flying Thigh High

Hello everyone!

As some of you may know, I have an ever developing love for tattoos and now want to share it with you. I'll be sharing pictures and artists who I love every week or so. If you have an awesome tattoo, share it with me!

First thing I think everyone should know about is Things & Ink. Things & Ink is "A TATTOO MAGAZINE THAT EMBRACES FEMALE TATTOO CULTURE, FOR ARTISTS, COLLECTORS AND THOSE YET TO GO UNDER THE NEEDLE."  It's an amazing quarterly magazine full of great stories, photos and inspiration all about tattoos and the industry. They have printed 3 issues to date so you still have time to catch up! It's so nice to have a magazine that really showcases female work and is a great read too!
Ok so in embracing female tattoos, I am going to start by showing you the process I went through to decide on my most recent tattoo, a curvy sailor girl pinup on my thigh.
Prior to getting the tattoo, I was set on having it done on my thigh and I knew I wanted a nautical pinup. I did toy with the idea of an anchor but in the end having a curvy pinup girl, for me, really expressed my love for old school tattoos and just felt right.
I am very lucky to have a wonderful friend in my home town of Toronto, Emma James, who works at Speakeasky Tattoo who does my tattoos while I am home. She took my inspiration pictures and turned them into a unique piece. I never wanted a direct copy of something else so she really hit the nail on the head with her design.
Here are some of the pictures I toyed with before getting the tattoo.
Emma drew up a design which I loved and we did the outline right away. Because of time and me having to travel back to the UK, I will be getting the colour done next time I'm home and I actually can't wait! Here she is all healed up - she is roughly 6.5 by 8 inches.

She covers the front of my right thigh and I love her!
My poor mum was little horrified at the size but I think she's come around to it now. I've never really had a love for my thighs, but not a dislike either, however now, I look forward to getting into a bathing suit this summer! (Should the weather permit). Now onto my other thigh...

I have just booked in for my other thigh to be done in November.... Stay Tuned till then!

Do you have any tattoos that have made you love a part of your body more? Tell me about it!

  2. Thanks Valerie! I'm so excited to have it coloured in too! I have 3 other tattoos already so I wasn't worried about this one. I think once you get one done it gets a lot easier because it becomes so addictive so you want to get everything haha. I had my thigh done in February and now my other will be done in November so you can see how eager I was xx
