Summer is for Sandals!

Hello everyone!
So today I bring you an exciting PSOOTD post that incorporates my favourite new Summer sandals. Now, as a Canadian, Birkenstocks have always been a Summer footwear staple. I have a pair waiting for me back in Toronto that I have had since the beginning of high school - they grow with you and will be resoled many times before they are done for good.

With this is mind, you can imagine my excitement when they seemingly came back in to fashion in the last 2 years. I have lusted over so many cute designs and longed for my good faithful pair back home.

When Jones Bootmaker got in touch with me recently seeing if I wanted to try out something from their Summer offerings, I was really excited. I've purchased shoes from them before and have nothing but good things to say, and to find out that they had Birkenstocks was even better!
I chose these gorgeous rose gold Gizeh model Birkenstocks* and received them very quickly.

I have been wearing them for a week to really test them out and I am happy to report that they are super comfortable and look so cute - they even sparkle in the sun! They really remind me of my best friend back home because I know that she would love them - they are very "Sarah".
I planned my entire outfit around them, wearing a bright coloured top that matched my bag and some soft denim capris. I feel like I am all set for the Summer now!

Top - Geoge at Asda | Bottoms - Alice and You via Asos | Sandals - Jones Bootmaker * | Bag -Boohoo | Necklace - Primark | Glasses - Crap Eyewear

Thanks Jones Bootmaker for the amazing sandals - I am so pleased and can't wait to wear them on my holiday and everywhere for that matter!
Head over to the Jones Bootmaer website to check out all the other great brands they have, and plenty of shoes are on sale at the moment, so get in quick! Everything they sell is high quality and will last so well worth whoever you spend.

Black and Blue with Style All Over

Good morning lovelies!
So last week I attended the George @ Asda Autumn Winter 2015 press day and all I can say is "WOW"! They have so many amazing things coming up and are so on trend, it's ridiculous!
Whilst there, I was very kindly offered a few bits to try and this top is now one of my favourites for easy on the go looks. It's a blue bell sleeve top in a sort of crepe fabric and the necklace come with it, so you can pop it all on with simple black bottoms and cute shoes and go - it's a no brainer!

I love the colourful light up W outside the W Hotel in West London and walk by it often so thought it would be a great spot to shoot these photos. It feels very modern meets old school, like a dressing room table with all the lights.

My shoes are my favourite Dorothy Perkins gold flats that never fail me and could probably do with being replaced - but I keep telling myself that I will get around to it next week.
My bag is my trusty Hotter Shoes bag that I featured in my "Pretty in Pink" post - pop over to it if you want a better look but it's a gorgeous bag!

So there you have it! A quick outfit post and more to come this week! I have so much to tell you about including a cheeky 2 day trip to Amsterdam that I took!

Asos Curve - Dress Wish List

Good morning and happy Sunday everyone!
So I spent a good part of last night procrastinating on Asos Curve instead of packing my suitcase for my mini jaunt to Amsterdam today, so I thought I would share with you my current list of wants from Asos Curve and it happens to be entirely dresses. As soon as it gets warm out, I start wearing dresses as much as possible - I love the freedom and feminine look that a dress has and every single one of these dresses is super on trend. You can click on the photos directly if you want to have a look on the Asos site at them.

The first three fit right into the 70s bohemian style that is making it's comeback at the moment and they are so cute and fresh for Summer. The second three are a bit moodier - especially the epic metallic animal print dress.
I really love what Asos Curve have at the moment and really feel like I can have my pic of trends that I want to follow and be a part of.
Have you got any favourites ? I'm thinking a couple of these might be perfect for my holiday to Turkey that's coming up!

#FrenchCurves - Festival!

Hello my friends!
I'm back and it's #FrenchCurves time again! If you didn't already guess, the theme for the month of June is "Festival"! I couldn't wait to do this one as I have had this flower crown for so long and have been waiting for the perfect blog post to share it in. The day has finally arrived!
Bonjour mes amis!

When I was younger I used to like going to festivals, and I still really love live music, but camping in a field for several days and getting muddy just isn't for me now. I still really love the festival style though, as it reminds me of Summer, sun, short dresses and sandals - so many of favourite things!

This Summer I am looking forward to the Notting Hill Carnival in London which is like a 2 day festival in the city that passes by my house. For 2 days, my neighbourhood will be full of music, dancing and fun and I can come home and sleep in my own bed at night - even if it is late!

I have to thank my beautiful friend Tara for taking these gorgeous photos - she always knows how to capture me at my best. I can't wait to look through all the other #FrenchCurves posts, especially our lovely challenge creator, Gaelle from The Curvy and Curly Closet!
If this is your first time reading a #FrenchCurves post, pop over to Facebook or Instagram and check out the page - you can see all of the previous looks and gorgeous participants!

2Plus2 - On Location With State of Mind

Good morning lovelies!
So today I have a super exciting post that I have been waiting to share with you all for so long.
Back in March, Hollie of Pretty Big Butterflies and I were invited by the active wear brand State of Mind to be part of a photo shoot out in Devon at South Sands.
I have worn State of Mind for a couple of years now and have always loved their clothing - they are well made with gorgeous soft fabric and are made to last.
If you don't know the brand, pop over to their website and have a look at what they have. It's plus size active wear that is created for bigger bodies but is also great for wearing out and about.
Like I said, the pieces are cut with big bodies in mind, so the trousers don't slip down and the shirts are long enough, to name only two of the many well thought out tricks that make their active wear great.
Hollie and I were really excited to work with a brand that was making clothing with our body types in mind and to be invited to be part of a photoshoot in a place like South Sands was an absolute treat.

We spent two wonderful days at South Sands, frolicking in State of Mind clothing and it was great! We did a photo shoot on the beach and in a studio as well as more candid bits and bobs that I will share later in the post with the help of Gavin Withey. It was great to do something new and it felt wonderful to be in an environment where being plus size and active was positive -it's not a feeling we are often allowed to feel as I'm sure many will attest to.

The professional images that we received from the shoot on the second day in studio are awesome and  I think they really capture what the brand is about and also how much fun Hollie and I had. I loved hula hooping and testing out the boxing gloves and Hollie looks amazing in her field hockey gear. Also, can we take a moment to appreciate how gorgeous Hollie looks in the beach shot below?

It was an amazing experience and an absolute treat to be a part of such a wonderful shoot for a lovely brand. The location was breathtaking and everyone that helped and took part was great.
Hollie and I really enjoyed spending time together, having a cheeky glass of wine out on the balcony while watching the sea - and hearing the sound of the waves.
Gavin was kind enough to put together this fun little video of our time at South Sands and be sure to check out the new website as our faces are all over it!

2Plus2 Covered in Carmakoma

Hello lovelies!
We are back again with another #2Plus2  - I told you we had loads in the pipeline! We've been so excited for this one as it's amazing! So, much like our first #2Plus2 post, Hollie from Pretty Big Butterflies and I made another trip to Evans recently to check out what was on the rails. We chose lots of lovely bits, but the item that surprised us the most was this gorgeous Carmakoma Coat
I will admit that at first glance, it didn't look amazing on the hanger but we had both seen the gorgeous Nadia Aboulhosn wearing it on her blog and thought we best try it on to be sure. I am so glad that we did!
This coat says fashion and style regardless of how you wear it and so the idea for this post came about- with the plan of doing two looks - one dressed up and one dressed down.
I took on dressed up and Hollie took on dressed down.

I'm 5 foot 5 and Hollie is 5 foot 6 so you can see it hits perfectly below the knee. I have styled mine by tying the belt in the back to nip in the waist and show off my fancy dress. Hollie has worn hers with a casual pair of leggings and striped shirt which looks so great.
It has this fabulous panel on the front left side that really keeps it chic - and the coat is lined with hidden buttons to keep it looking sleek.

We both loved the coat and it looks really different on our two bodies and two looks, but that's part of what makes it great!

Body Positive Dance is For Everyone!

Good morning everyone!
I hope you had an amazing weekend full of sunshine - London was beautiful and I took full advantage! Today I wanted to do a little post about something amazing that I did on the weekend - I attended a Body Positive Dance class run by the amazing Ashleigh Owen, who I saw perform at the British Plus Size Awards last year.  I have to share this experience with you because it's one that I think every person, regardless of their size should have.

It's hard to explain what it's like to stand in a room full of beautiful people who have shown up simply to move and express themselves through dance and to encourage everyone to feel good. As soon as we showed up, even if we didn't know each other, I felt at home, knowing that the space was safe and positive.
Just like the dance classes I attended when I was younger, we all lined up in front of the mirror and did a brief warm up, before learning an amazing and fun routine to Uptown Funk!

It's amazing how much you can learn in an hour and just how awesome it was to laugh and practice in a big group like that. I really thought that my dancing days were probably done, mostly since I am terrible at remembering the steps but also because I have never found a place like this that makes me feel at home. I don't ever want to walk into a space that requires me to justify my body for the sake of exercise and activity and I find it hard to do this most of the time.
Near the end of the class, we performed what we had learned and Mel, Ashleigh's partner and resident dj filmed us  - the video can be seen on the Facebook page, and has been viewed to date over 20 000 times - which is amazing!
Check out this gorgeous pic with instructor extraordinaire, Ashleigh!

If you live in London please take advantage and get a ticket for the next one when it is announced! It's so much fun and really caters to all bodies and abilities - Ashleigh is a dream of an instructor - kind and patient and most of all, fun!  She is plus size herself so is in the know on how to make it friendly for everyone!
This is just further proof that you should never put off something that you would like to do because of the way that you look or how you feel in your skin - live in the now and dance like no one is watching - you will feel better for it!

Have you seen the video?! Are you jazzed and going to come dance with me at the next one?!
And look at all these fabulous babes!!

Pretty in Pink

Good morning lovelies!
Today I am finally posting one of my favourite outfits ever from Yours Clothing! I have had these photos for ages now but just haven't had a chance to get the post done so I am so excited to show you these now. A few posts ago, I reviewed the Bluewater store and featured a fitting room photo of this outfit, but it really deserved more.

Since then, the beautiful With Wonder and Whimsy has featured it and a similar look by the ever gorgeous Pretty Big Butterflies - so now it's my turn!
Yours pastel bits and bobs at the moment are so on trend and the fit is epic - the sizing is great and the clothes are well cut which is super exciting! It really feels like they are coming into their own, and have a little something for everyone as the site has so many different styles.

I love this pink top with the cute scalloped trim on the sleeves and bottom trim - it's feminine and light but can also be popped on without thinking and finish any outfit.
The skirt is a heavy scuba material that gives it a proper shape and it sits as though it had crinoline underneath which I absolutely love. The entire outfit is cute and fresh and screams Summer!

I popped on my Dorothy Perkins gold flats - my go to shoe these days as they are cute and sophisticated but oh-so comfortable and put all my necessities in my new Hotter Shoes  Marci bag! Voila! My newest favourite outfit! It really feels complete and like a proper outfit which makes me walk a little taller, I'm sure!

Have you shopped at Yours lately? Do you have any favourite pieces? Be sure to shop the post below if you are loving this outfit as much as me!
